From June 6th to 10th, 10 students from the Petroleum Engineering School and Resources and Environmental School were chosen to attend the academic exchange activity--International Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition in China IOGCEC Education Week, which is organized by China Petroleum Institute and Society of Petroleum Engineers, financially assisted by China National Petroleum Cooperation(CNPC), Sinopec, China National Offshore Oil Cooperation(CNOOC) as well as some other foreign oil companies.
President of the China Petroleum Association, Mr. Jiacheng Zao, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Vice President of CNPC, Mr. Zhouji Ping, Vice President of the Organizing Committee and Vice President of Sinopec Mr. Wang Zhigang, Vice President of CNOOC, Mr. Zhoushou Wei, as well as some distinguished guests from foreign countries attended the conference.
One part of the meeting was that the conference offered a platform for students exchange, talk and brainstorm. The students could learn more from each others coming from different countries. They may have different life goals and different ways of thinking. By learning from each other, they got to learn how to deal with the problems from different angles how to expand the way of their thinking, how to link with reality, how to strive for their life goals, as well as how to be persistent and not to be sluggish. As the young generation, a college student is always supposed to be optimistic and positive. These activities provided a chance for universities and colleges to absorb and show their scientific achievements. Not only they encouraged the interaction of students from different schools, but also brought schools and SPE organization into close contact, and provided opportunities to school to listen to SPE experts lectures regularly. More importantly, the students will be given more chances for their job hunting by contacting more oil companies.
Besides, the students participants suggest that SWPU establish its own SPE Student Branch since SWPU has played a very important part in petroleum engineering. It is a good choice to strengthen the tie with international petroleum institutions and SPE so as to widen the students academic vision.
