Fort Worth Sisters Cities International, USA Visits for Potential Intercollegiate Cooperation
During May 9-11, Fort Worth Sisters
Cities International (Fort Worth, Texas) came to Zhaoqing to
explore the possibility of establishing a Sister-Cities
relationship.
On the afternoon of May 10, Vice President Wang Zhong met a
delegation from Fort Worth Sisters Cities International, USA,
headed by Ms. Mae Ferguson, President & CEO, Fort Worth Sister
Cities International and Mr. Michael Markwardt, Chairman of the
China Search Committee. A cordial meeting was held to explore
the potential for friendly cooperation between institutions of
higher learning in both cities. Vice President Wang briefly
introduced Zhaoqing University to the delegation and expressed
the sincere hope that exchange and cooperation could be
intensified. President Ferguson spoke highly of our teaching and
learning environment and thus suggested a cultural exchange
program for both faculty and students.
Members of the delegation showed great interest in two of our
majors: Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and Chinese
Language and Culture for International Students. They hope that
Zhaoqing University (ZQU) can produce more qualified teachers to
meet the need of the increasing demand for Chinese learning, and
they said will spare no effort in recommending students at Fort
Worth to study Chinese at ZQU.
During the visit, the delegation also toured the Fine Arts
Faculty and visited the newly-launched Chinese painting
exhibition of Master Lin Boxi, a renowned Chinese Australian
painter, and his students.
