Edith Cowan University (Australia) and Shenzhen University Sighed MOU

On the morning of May 26, Prof. Kerry O. Cox, President of Edith Cowan University (ECU), Australia, escorted by his International Dean, Prof. Shen Gensheng, Representative of China Office, Dr. Zhao Tie and Ms Lynn Su, visited ShenzhenUniversity.

The delegates of ECU were met with President Zhang Bigong, Vice President Ruan Shuangchen at Room 205, president office. The Vice- Chancellor introduced ECU s specialization in program setting and its key values. He pointed out that one of the goals of the higher education was to cultivate students ability of involving in international affairs and the awareness of acceptance of people from different culture backgrounds. He said ECU was committed to internationalization.

President Zhang consented his counterpart s opinion on internationalization of higher education and briefed SZU s aspects of international collaboration. He thought highly of Mr. Cox s idea of healthy life style as the Vice-Chancellor showed President Zhang on the meeting as an episode that every staff of ECU wore a small device on their waist belts to count 10,000 footsteps everyday for a healthy life.

After the meeting, the two universities signed MOU for future collaboration. SZU s School of Foreign Languages, Mass Communication, and International Office discussed with ECU delegates about the issue of credits admission, joint programs, and exchange of students and staff

Located in the capital city of WesternAustralia, Perth, ECU is a public funded and comprehensive university, whose strong areas of study include media, business and IT, with a student population of 22, 000 or so.
