Fang Fanquan Talks with Leaders of Confucius Institute

Aug. 27 - On August 9th, accompanied by Professor Liang Xuehong, dean of the Institute of Education for International Students, Vice President Fang Fanquan met with Mr. Sergei and Mr. Shen Sanwan who were respectively the Russian dean and Chinese dean of Confucius Institute at UralStateUniversity.

Before their talks, Professor Fang Fanquan extended his warm welcome to the guests. Mr. Sergei and Mr. Shen Sanwan introduced the development of Confucius Institute at UralStateUniversity in the past year. Professor Fang further discussed with the deans about the opportunities and challenges Confucius Institute was faced with.

Mr. Sergei thanked China's Hanban (National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language) for their support, both in policy and in funds, of Confucius Institute at UralStateUniversity. Though learning Chinese was not easy for Russians, Mr. Sergei held that Chinese and Chinese culture exerted profound influence on Russia. With strong support from Chinese and Russian governments and close cooperation between the two universities, Mr. Sergei believed that Confucius Institute at UralStateUniversity would have a bright future.
