Education Delegation of New South Wales, Australia Visiting JNU

A delegation headed by Ms. Jane Simmons, Regional Director from Northern New South Wales Leading Learning, consisting of 10 primary and secondary school principals , visited Jinan University on October 12.

Prof. Jia Yimin, vice president, warmly received the delegation. He briefed the guests on the characteristics as well as the outstanding advantages of Chinese language education of the University. He said that the New South Wales State and Guangdong province have always maintained a close relationship and been friendly provinces to each other.

Jinan University also has intercourse with Australian colleges and universities such as Griffith University, with which we signed cooperative agreement as early as 2004. Prof. Jia believed that this visit would further promote cooperation and exchanges between Jinan and educational circles of Australia.

Ms. Simmons spoke highly of the long history of Jinan University and its outstanding advantages in Chinese education. She explained that the booming of Chinese economy has aroused the global enthusiasm. More and more foreigners start to learn Chinese. Chinese language teachers and teaching resources are in increasing demand in Australia now. Ms. Simmons proposed that the two parties enter into active cooperation in the Chinese language teacher.
During their stay, the delegation paid a visit to the JNU history exhibition and the library.
