On August 2nd, Prof. Peter Gr nberg, a winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics from the Research Centre J lich visited SDU. President Xu Xianming met with Prof. Gr nberg as well as Prof. Keiko Hibi from Toho College of Music, Japan, who was also in the delegation.

Xu said that the visit by Gr nberg meant a lot to SDU for 2010 was the 80th Anniversary of the School of Physics. SDU has strong scientific research capabilities in physics, which is promoted by taking part in domestic and international cooperative scientific research programs. Xu also introduced the achievements the School of Physics made in the ATLAS Program carried out in CERN. He would appreciate Gr nberg s constructive suggestions for the development of the School of Physics. Gr nberg hoped to visit SDU again, and exchanged with Xu his views on the different functions of theoretical physics and applied physics, and the exploitation and utilization of future energy.

In the afternoon, Gr nberg, together with Keiko Hibi, gave a lecture titled the Physical Basis of Harmonic in Music . The lecture was hosted by Liang Zuotang, Dean of the School of Physics.
