SDU              held the 8th World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation              (WCICA2010)

In the morning of July 7th, the 8th World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation (WCICA2010) opened in Jinan. Professor Kosuge Kazuhir, the President of IEEE RAS, Professor Sun Youxian, the President of Chinese Association of Automation and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Tan Zizhong, the President of the WCICA Steering Committee, Li Zhaoqian, the Vice -Governor of Shandong Province, Xu Xianming, the President of Shandong University, and Jia Lei, the President of the WCICA Organizing Committee and AssistantPresident of Shandong University attended the opening ceremony and delivered opening remarks.

Prof. Meng Qinghu, the President of the Association and Dean of the School of Control Science and Engineering of Shandong University, presided over the opening ceremony. Over 400 experts and scholars from more than 20 countries and regions attended the meeting. WCICA2010 was co-organized by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Association, Beijing department of the IEEE Control System Association, the Natural Science Foundation of China, the Chinese Association of Automation, Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, Shandong University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and IEEE HK RACS. The conference included 6 high-level plenary lectures given by six prominent speakers, plenary sessions and poster exhibit. More than four hundreds experts and scholars from more than 20 countries and regions attended about 80 lectures and presentations during the conference. More than 900 papers were displayed at the poster exhibit. Key note speeches and panel discussions were arranged alternately for better communication and cooperation of attendees of various fields and levels.
