National Meeting on International Agricultural Cooperation

On 19-20 Sept., the National Meeting on International Agricultural Cooperation was held in Xi an, Shaanxi Province. Participants in this meeting summarized the achievements and experience on the international agricultural cooperation in the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period, analyzed the situation in this regard, and laid down the plan for such cooperation in the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period. Niu Dun, Vice Minister of Agriculture, and Yao Yinliang, Deputy Governor of the Shaanxi Provincial Government, attended and addressed the meeting.

Niu Dun summarized the work on international agricultural cooperation in the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period in his speech. First, the sustained growth of agricultural trade facilitated agricultural restructuring and increase of farmers income; second, the steady progress in implementation of the go global strategy provided more opportunities for agricultural development; third, the stable advancement in execution of the bring in strategy in the field of agriculture promoted the industrial development and the progress in science and technology; fourth, innovative development in the South-South Cooperation won good reputation from all parties concerned.

Niu Dun stressed that accelerating transformation of the development pattern of international agricultural cooperation was essential to follow the latest international agricultural development, facilitate the development of domestic agriculture and rural economy, improve the quality of agricultural opening-up, and push forward the activities on international agricultural cooperation in the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period. Only in this way could the quality and level of agricultural opening-up be upgraded.
