China

Chinese stock markets closed mixed on Tuesday.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.31 percent, or 7.32 points, to close at 2,325.91.

The Shenzhen Component Index rose 0.01 percent, or 0.86 points to close at 9,586.94.

Hong Kong stocks closed down 237.46 points, or 1.24 percent, at 18,942.23 on Tuesday.

Japan

Nikkei fell Tuesday morning as market sentiment was tumbled by S&P's downgrade warning on 6 Eurozone countries because of the debt crises.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 67.20 points, or 0.77 percent, from Monday to 8,628.78.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 4.25 points, or 0.57 percent, at 744. 36.

Australia

Australian shares fell sharply, breaking breaking a six-day winning streak, as investors took an interest rate cut from the central bank as a signal that the eurozone debt crisis will hurt the local economy.

The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 59.3 points, or 1.37 per cent, at 4,262.0.

The broader All Ordinaries index fell 57.9 points, or 1.32 per cent, to 4,321.6.
