Guanyin Mountain Forest Paark

Guanyin (Kwan-yin or Goddess of Mercy) Mountain, which has an altitude of 488 meters and occupies a strategic place, was considered a fat military “meat” before 1949. In the ancient times, there were many temples on the mountain, which rose at the end of Tang Dynasty, thrived in the Five Dynasties and Ten States, declined in the Ming Dynasty, and were mostly ruined in the late Qing Dynasty. So the old mountain temples are now hard to find.

With a total area of 1,733 hectares, Guanyi Mountain Forest Park, noted as “a sacred land in the south”, is a theme park integrating ecological tourism with Buddhist culture. The park boasts its primeval secondary forest, invariably fresh air, high content of anion, clear water, and all kinds of singing birds, exotic animals, and fragrant flowers.

Dongguan’s biggest and most centralized natural waterfalls are in the forest park. When Xian quan Waterfall pours down with a fall of 380 meters, it fills the air with a silvery mist and forms spectacular flying jades and pearls. In addition, 36-Level Waterfall looks also incredible and marvelous as it plunges from the top of Pudu Stream.

The most fantastic is the Kwan-yin (Goddess of Mercy) Basalt Statue sitting on the top of Guanyi Mountain. The statue is 33 meters tall and weighs more than 3,000 tons. With exquisite carving, elegant style, grand bearing and vivid image, it is really a precious and artistic stone carving in the style of a thriving Tang Dynasty.

Besides, The Kwan-yin Square is also a unique place for enjoying scenery. Covering nearly 10,000 square meters, the square provides visitors with a broad range of vision. Standing on the square, you can have a bird’s eye view of the panorama of Zhangmutou Town, as well as the resplendent night pictures of Huizhou, Dongguan and Shenzhen cities.
Other scenic spots and facilities in the park include Kwan-yin Temple, Pudu Stream, Child Giving Spring, Barbecue Field, Children’s Fairland, and Music Fountain, etc.
