Mr. Ma Jiantang met with the Delegation headed by Mr. G.. van der Veen, Director-General of Statistics Netherlands (CBS), on November 4. Both sides hoped to step up the Sino-Dutch statistical cooperation between the statistical agencies.
Mr. Ma Jiantang introduced China s statistical system, the relationship between the governmental, sector, and local statistics, as well as the opportunities and challenges faced on China s statistical works to the Delegation. During the discussion on the key domain of current visit by the Delegation, Mr. Ma Jiantang pointed out that, along with the development of China's economy, the wide range and faster population migration put forward higher requirements to China s population statistics; and national income accounting work needs for further improvement.
Mr. Ma Jiantang pointed out that, under the changed conditions on situation, tasks, and budget, the Netherlands statistical work has achieved good effects through continued efforts and process redesign. It was been affirmed and praised by UN. NBS also hopes to understand and learn Netherlands experiences in statistical development. Mr. Ma expressed that, although Netherlands and China have different national conditions, and in different development stages, it is a common need for two countries to develop statistical exchanges. He hoped that the bilateral cooperation would be strengthened by the visit of the Delegation.
Mr. G.. van der Veen denoted that, Netherlands had encountered similar problems in the stage of rapid economic development, hence, Netherlands has accumulated certain experiences in estimates of population migration andin improvement of national accounts, and CBS is willing to actively carry out bilateral cooperation by the personnel exchanges.
Mr. Xu Xianchun, Deputy Commissioner of NBS, attended the meeting. Mr. G.. van der Veen held a lecture titled Present and Future of Northlands Statistics . He introduced the history, status and characteristics of Netherlands statistical system, challenges and countermeasures, process redesign, and data dissemination, and so on. Mr. Xu Xianchun presided the lecture, and the discussion between the Delegation and relevant departments of NBS. |
