In April, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was up by 1.8% over the same period of the previous year, of which, urban area and rural area was up by 2.3% and 3.4% respectively. As compared with the last month, the CPI was down by 0.3%. The accumulative level of CPI from January to April was up by 2.6% as compared with the same period last year. In view of different categories, the price of food, non-food, consumable, and services raised by 3.1%, 1.2%, 1.3% and 3.6% respectively. -- In view of the price of food, grain was up by 1.7%, oil or fat was down by 5.1%, meat, poultry and their products, fresh eggs, aquatic products and vegetables was up by 8.6%, 6.1%, 6.8% and 6.4% respectively. -- The price of tobacco, liquor and daily articles rose by 0.6%. Of which, the tobacco and liquor respectively increased 0.7% and 0.6%. --The price of clothing dropped by 2.5%. Of which, the price of clothes dropped by 2.6%. --The price of household equipment and maintenance service dropped by 0.5%. Of which, consumer durables dropped by 1.8%, household service and maintenance service rose by 3.8%. --The price of medical care and personal articles was down by 0.7%. Wherein that western medicine dropped by 2.7%, the traditional Chinese medicinal materials and medicine was down by 3.8%, while that of medical care service rose by 3.6%. --The price of transportation and communications dropped by 1.4%. Wherein that price of vehicles dropped by 3.5%, while that of vehicle fuel and spares rose by 9.5%, that of using and maintaining of vehicle was up by 2.2%, that of urban transportation fee rose by 2.9%, and that of communication service dropped by 16.7%. --The price of recreational, educational and cultural articles rose by 2.8%. Wherein that price of learning and baby-care rose by 6.6%, that of recreation rose by 3.1%, that of tourism and outgoing dropped by 0.6%, and that of consumer durables for recreation was down by 6.4%. --The price of articles related to dwelling was up by 5.8%. Wherein that water, electricity and fuel, construction and decoration materials, and housing rent was respectively up by 10.1%, 2.3%, and 2.2%. |
