Lieut. Gen. Zhang Shibo, commander of the Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met with Vice Adm. Scott Van Buskirk, commander of the U.S. 7th Fleet who came to Hong Kong for a rest with the Blue Ridge command ship of the fleet, and his party at the Stonecutters Naval Base in Hong Kong on February 22.
The visitors first listened to the briefing of the Stonecutters Naval Base and visited the No. 770 guided missile vessel of the Naval Ship Group of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison. Then, Lieut. Gen. Zhang Shibo and Vice Adm. Scott Van Buskirk had lunch together. They had in-depth exchanges on issues of common interest and achieved the objective of increasing mutual understanding, building trust and developing friendship.
Previously, the personnel of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison also attended the deck reception held on the deck of the Blue Ridge command ship on the evening of February 19 upon invitation.
