On August 3, Li Jinjun, Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee of China-Africa Agricultural Forum, made the announcement that the Forum would be held on August 11-12 in Beijing, with the theme of opportunities and challenges for China-Africa agricultural cooperation in the new situation. Heads of parties and governments, agricultural ministers and entrepreneurs from nearly 20 African countries are expected to attend the forum. Li Jinjun said that the convening of the forum would demonstrate the sincerity of China to help Africa achieve their independent development.
According to Li Jinjun, the holding of the forum is based on the demand and will shared by the two sides to strengthen the cooperation in addressing the food security problem. He added that promoting China-Africa agricultural cooperation would not only help African countries and their ruling parties deal with the issues concerning agricultural development and food security, but conform to the spirit of the Fourth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-African Cooperation, and implement the measures for bilateral agricultural cooperation proposed at the conference, thus helping consolidate the foundation of the new strategic partnership between China and African nations.
