On August 11, Xi Jinping, Vice President of the People s Republic of China, met with African representatives to China-Africa Agricultural Forum in the Great Hall of the People (Xinhua/Ma Zhancheng).
August 11, Beijing (Xinhua) Xi Jinping, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice President of China, met with heads of African delegations in the Great Hall of the People, who came to Beijing for China-Africa Agricultural Forum.
On behalf of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese government, Vice President Xi extended a warm welcome to African delegates who attended China-Africa Agricultural Forum.
Xi Jinping said that agricultural cooperation with great potential for growth formed an important part of China-Africa cooperation. He added that the forum served as a platform for deepening and widening bilateral agricultural cooperation by giving full play to the exchanges between the CPC and ruling parties of African nations, thus playing an active role in promoting the new strategic partnership between China and Africa in an all-round way.
Joice Mujuru, Vice President of Zimbabwe, representing African delegates, expressed her sincere consolation to the loss of lives and property in some Chinese provinces stricken by natural disasters. She also expressed her willingness to promote China-Africa agricultural cooperation through the forum for a new substantive progress, since agriculture is an important industry for many African countries. Kalonzo Stephen Musyoka, Vice President of Kenya, said that the Kenyan side was looking forward to enhancing its agricultural productivity through strengthening exchanges and cooperation with China.
Wang Jiarui, Minister of the International Department, and Han Changfu, Minister of Agriculture, also attended the meeting.
