On Dec. 1, Niu Dun, Vice Minister of Agriculture of China, and Danixe Aponte, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Land of Venezuela, co-chaired the Meeting of the Agriculture Sub-commission of the Ninth Meeting of China-Venezuela High Level Joint Commission.
The two sides reviewed the progress in the bilateral agricultural cooperation since the Eighth Meeting of China-Venezuela High Level Joint Commission and expressed their satisfaction with the achievements in this regard. Both sides considered that the cooperation in fisheries had been moving ahead energetically and the agricultural cooperation projects in Venezuela implemented by Chinese companies had been going smoothly.
The two sides discussed the aquaculture project executed by the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) of China in Venezuela, relevant agricultural projects in Venezuela to be carried out by Chinese companies, including China Electronics Import & Export Corp., and the scientific and technical cooperation between the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and the Venezuelan side.
Both sides agreed to take the following measures to intensify the agricultural cooperation between the two countries: first, increase personnel exchange and mutual visits under the existing cooperation framework; second, strengthen the communication on information and relevant issues through embassies, the direct contact between the two ministries and some other ways; third, give full play to the existing quadruple mechanism to establish a working group on agricultural technology under the Agriculture Sub-commission as soon as possible and seek financial support for agricultural cooperation projects and effectively facilitate the implementation of projects under the guidance of China-Venezuela High Level Joint Commission and its Agriculture Sub-commission; fourth, work out a program for the bilateral agricultural cooperation to make detailed plans on cooperation projects and push forward orderly development of the agricultural cooperation; fifth, enhance the exchange and understanding between project implementing organizations and technical organizations to boost the bilateral agricultural cooperation; sixth, intensify the research on and formulation of related policies to provide necessary services for companies and experts to conduct collaboration.
The Venezuelan side informed the Chinese side of an urban agriculture project to be implemented in their country and asked MOA to recommend a Chinese company that could fulfill this project.
Representatives of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center of MOA, CAAS and implementing organizations of the agricultural projects in Venezuela attended the meeting.
