A Chinese source informed a polymerupdate team member on a new butanediol (BDO) plant to be built by Sichuan Tianhua Fubang Chemical Co Ltd.
The source said, "located at Luzhou, Sichuan province in China, the BDO plant has a production capacity of 25,000 mt/yr. Currently, the plant is operating at normal rates. The company has been witnessing stable demand from the downstream local markets. The company supplies most of its materials to a downstream GBL plant. The GBL plant has a production capacity of 10,000 mt/yr."
The source added, the company plans to build another BDO plant in China. The same is likely to come on-stream by 2012. More details on the project are not known yet.
