Methanol distributor Southern Chemical Corporation (SCC) Monday rolled over its January contract price at $1.29/gal FOB US Gulf, company sources said.
After discounts and rebates of 9%, the January contract price would be close to 117.39 cents/gallon.
Southern distributes in the US market the methanol produced by Methanol Holdings (Trinidad) Limited.
Last week, Canadian methanol producer Methanex nominated its January CP at 135 cents/gallon FOB USG ($449/mt), 3 cents below the December contract.
Both nominations were above market expectations of 120 cents/gallon based on the fact that no major turnarounds or unplanned outages have been reported.
