China imported 10% less methanol in November than in October this year, at 436,266 mt, according to customs data Wednesday.

The drop erases a slight gain in total imports in October from September, and is some way off August's 16-month high, when 503,016 mt of methanol was imported.

Iran retains its position as top supplier for China, with 198,437 mt in November, almost unchanged from October's 198,688 mt.

Imports from Saudi Arabia increased 36% in November to 110,404 mt, making the country China's second-biggest supplier. This increase offset the drop in supply from India, Indonesia and Malaysia.

India, which sent over 4,491 mt in October, supplied just 6 mt in November. Indonesia and Malaysia exported no methanol to China in November, despite sending over about 5,001 mt, and 22,613 mt in October, respectively.
