Ukraine's Supreme Court has upheld international arbitration court decisions that the Naftohaz Ukrayiny surrenders reserves to RosUkrEnergo.

Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported Wednesday that the Stockholm Court of Arbitration ruled that the state oil and gas company Naftohaz should return 11 billion cubic meters of natural gas to RosUkrEnergo, which is registered in Switzerland.

According to Stockholm Court of Arbitration press secretary Liudmila Momot, the Stockholm Court of Arbitration upheld a ruling of the Shevchenkovskii District Court and the Kiev Court of Appeals and turned down Naftogaz's appeal.

On June 8 the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce determined that Naftogaz Ukrainy return 12.1 billion cubic meters of gas to RosUkrEnergo, a figure that included 11 billion cubic meters of gas Naftogaz seized from RUE in January 2009 as compensation for the latter's debt of $1.7 billion along with an additional 1.1 billion cubic meters of gas as compensation.

Naftogaz Ukrainy has yet to comment on whether it will appeal the decision.
