The Engel stand at K 2010 was a very busy place, reports Graeme Herlihy, managing director of Engel UK. During the show, the stand received UK orders for eleven injection moulding machines, nearly all with fully electric actuation.
The value of these orders clinches Engel UK s current fiscal year (ending 31 March 2011) as yielding the highest ever machine sales in the 46-year history of the company. Having exceeded the previous record of 16.4m, says Herlihy, there is still a further month or so during which new sales can be delivered before the year end.
According to Herlihy, order income for the year will be even higher. He told PRW: The UK market for injection moulding machines is booming, and with the very strong market share that we built up during the recession we have been in the perfect position to benefit.
Dr Peter Neumann, CEO of the parent Engel Holding group, confirmed: This year's K fair was a great success for us. Our efforts were again rewarded by a multitude of enquiries from new customers. Our innovative strength will contribute to our customers own competitiveness.
Neumann noted an increase in the quality of stand visitorship over K 2007, with a higher proportion of decision makers. Concerning the international spread, he observed that a bigger percentage of visitors came from Asia and theNear/Middle East than three years ago.
