An industry source based in Taiwan informed a polymerupdate team member that the restart process of a PTA plant operated by the Formosa Chemical & Fibre Corp (FCFC) has commenced.
The source said, "located at Loong-Der, Taiwan, the plant has a production capacity of 700,000 mt/year. The restart process at the plant commenced mid last week. However, it could not be ascertained as to when the plant will restart production at normal rates. It had been taken offstream on November 1 for a maintenance turnaround."
The source added, "demand for the product is stated to be steady in the domestic markets."
