China: Bad weather disrupts LPG barge sales of Sinopec Qingdao Refining & Chemical

Write: India [2011-05-20]
Sinopec Qingdao Refining & Chemical had recorded no LPG barge sales since Oct 21 due to extreme weather, a refinery source said.

The refinery had to halt LPG barge loading at Huangdao port in recent two days as "Chaba" and cold air jointly caused surging waves at sea, said the source.
From Oct 21, typhoon "Megi" held LPG barges back from arriving in South China and Zhejiang Province in East China, which were destinations of Qingdao Refining & Chemical's LPG cargoes, according to the source.

With daily LPG commodity output at around 1,300mt, Qingdao Refining & Chemical was now under great sales pressure, the source furthered, adding it accumulatively reduced truck price by Yuan 200/mt from Oct 21.

As reported earlier, Qingdao Refining & Chemical almost sold one barge of LPG each day during mid-October on high settlements in South China and Zhejiang.

"Chaba" and cold snap are forecast to still cause gale winds in East China Sea and northern South China Sea before 08:00 of Oct 28, according to the National Meteorological Center of CMA.

Qingdao Refining & Chemical, located in Qingdao City of Shandong Province, owns an annual crude throughput capacity of 10-mil mt at present. It mainly refines mixture of Saudi heavy and light crude at 1:1 ratio.
