p>Mexican PVC producer Mexichem announced that it took full control of the Peruvian company Platisur S.A., where it previously had a minority stake.
The acquisition gives Mexichem a leadership position in Peru's PVC industry, the company said in a release.
Founded in 1966, Plastisur is a leading manufacturer and distributor of PVC pipes and connections in Peru, with nearly a 45% domestic market share.
According to Mexichem, in 2009 Plastisur reported sales of $10.6 million and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of $3.3 million.
Further details of the transaction were not immediately available.
