China's Largest Joint Venture Project to Produce MEG in 2013

p>An official from Zhanjiang Municipal Government of Guangdong Province said on Sept 21th that China s Ministry of Environmental Protection had approved the Environmental Impact Assessment of Sino-Kuwaiti refinery and petrochemical integration projects.

The project, located at east island of Zhanjiang, was invested jointly by Sinopec and Kuwait. It had 1000kt/y ethylene cracking capacity which could produce dimethylbenzene and MEG. Meanwhile, it was predicted to put into operation in 2013. In 2015, its oil refinery capacity would reach 500,000bbl/y.
