Asia: Indonesia Tri Polyta delays PP plant expansion, to startup Apr 2011

p>Indonesian Tri Polyta is delaying the restart of its polypropylene plant from debottlenecking, by three months to April 2011, mainly due to concerns on global economic recovery, an industry source said Friday.

Concerns on delays in the global economic recovery would weigh down on polymers consumption, the source said, adding that debottlenecking costs were revised too.

The debottlenecking program, which began around March this year, will boost the plant's PP capacity -- across three production lines at Cilegon, Banten in west Java -- from 360,000 mt/year to 480,000 mt/year.

Tri Polyta obtains its propylene feedstock from domestic sources such as Chandra Asri and imports from Jubail Chevron Phillips in Saudi Arabia.

Chandra Asri can make 260,000 mt/year of propylene and channels all its production to Tri Polyta. The companies are affiliates, whose common majority shareholder is Barito Pacific.
