The group, which represents the nation's fourth-largest industrial sector, said it now expects sector revenues to gain 18 percent this year, with output volumes rising 11 percent.
It had previously forecast revenue rising 10 percent and output volumes gaining 8.5 percent.
In the second quarter, year-on-year sales growth was 22.7 percent, driven by demand from customers outside of Germany, VCI said in its quarterly report published on Thursday. Output was up 14.2 percent.
