p>Singapore's petrochemical manufacturing output rose 12.5% on the year in July on improved refining margins, the Economic Development Board of Singapore said in a statement late last week.

Over January-July, petrochemical production recorded a 36.2% year-on-year gain, the largest increase in the chemicals cluster.

The cluster posted a 7.7% on-year rise in July, increasing the January-July cumulative output 15.4% on the year.

Output levels were pulled down compared with June due to lower production in the petroleum segment. Although the output climbed 3.5% on the year in July, over January-July output fell 6.7% on the year due to decreases in output in the preceding months.

Singapore's overall manufacturing output rose 9.9% on the year, but on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, manufacturing output increased 1.4% on the year in July.
