China: Hainan LNG terminal reports smooth progress

CNOOC Hainan Gas Co Ltd made smooth progress on Hainan LNG terminal and planed to submit application to the National Development and Reform Commission in September, a source with the company said.


The terminal is designed with 2-mil mt/yr capacity for the first phase and to be expanded to 3-mil mt per year for the second phase. Meanwhile, an 80,000-267,000-cu-m jetty and two 160,000-cu-m tanks will be built in the first phase. The project is set to supply LNG to coastal regions in Southeast China.
CNOOC has fixed 1.3-mil mt of gas source for the project, and signed LNG supply agreement with refineries and paper plants with total annual sales of over 1.4-mil mt.


CNOOC Hainan Gas Co Ltd is jointly invested by CNOOC Gas & Power Group and Hainan Investment Holding Co Ltd, for the Hainan LNG terminal project. The project is set to complete construction in 2014 and come online in 2016.
