The Transitgas pipeline, taking natural gas from the German border through Switzerland, will not resume exports to Italy until the end of August.
Switzerland-based system operator Transitgas failed to receive government approval to resume normal exports to Italy, and the authorities have asked the operator to carry out additional safety measures, according to a notification provided to distributors. Transitgas expects to complete the work at the end of August, weather permitting.
The expected restart had already been pushed back, first from 9 August to 13 August, and now until the end of the month. Flows to Italy were suspended at the end of July because of a possible rock slide near the Swiss village of Guttannen following a storm.
