A source close to the fire brigade told Xinhua that fire fighters had basically stopped the fire from spreading, but the extreme heat had hindered their access to the plant.
The fire was said to break out at about 7 a.m. Tuesday in Fangshan District.
Dense smoke rose about 1,000 meters into the air, said witnesses.
The source with the fire department said the plant, which belongs to Beijing Yanfang Huaxing Warehouse Logistics Co. Ltd., contained flammable chemical substances, such as acetone.
