Shanghai plays an essential role in China s economic construction and social development in China. The Pudong District, where the CGGC Shanghai Headquarters is based, is the core functional area under the strategy of building Shanghai into an international financial center. Its headquarters economy and modern service industry have become the highlight of economic development. So far, seven subsidiaries of CGGC have operated in multiple areas such as engineering, shipbuilding, logistics, tourism and real estate development in Shanghai.
As a large central enterprise, CGGC has expanded its business scope from pure hydraulic and hydroelectric engineering to three business segments, namely, construction, investment and real estate, in the past four decades since its establishment, extended its business reach to more than 60 countries and territories in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas, grown into the number one brand in China s hydroelectric engineering industry, edged into the world s top 225 contractors and China top 500 enterprises, and grown into a multinational group in possession of resources and powerful strengths.
Ding Yanzhang noted in the address that CGGC established the headquarters and the branch in Shanghai in order to gain a foothold in Shanghai, coordinate and manage the East China market and the Hainan market, integrate operating resources to form the resultant force of development, and better involve itself in building Shanghai into an international economic center, an international financial center, an international trade center and an international shipping center. To this end, CGGC is now preparing the Development Planning of China Gezhouba Group for Shanghai Region in collaboration with the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. Ding Yanzhang remarked that CGGC would see the establishment of the Shanghai facilities as a new starting point to combine the pursuit of the economic benefit and the service of the economic and social development in Shanghai, actively perform the responsibility of a central enterprise, establish a good example for the industry, and contribute more to the economic and social development in Shanghai.
