CSR wins RMB 1.7 bln subway vehicle order

After having won the bid for the order of 138 subway vehicles for Chengdu Subway Line 2 in March, CSR Qingdao Sifang Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. got an RMB 1.725 billion order of linear motor subway vehicles for Guangzhou Subway Line 6 on April 26. So far, the company has won orders of 2,248 urban subway vehicles in total.

According to CSR Sifang s technician, the won bid involved linear motor subway vehicles for Guangzhou Subway Line 6, which are famous for internationally advanced linear motor traction technology and superior in climbing capacity, curve negotiation capacity, construction cost, operating cost, noise and maintenance. Now, only Japan, Canada and China have mastered the technology in the world. CSR won the bid for linear motor subway vehicles for Guangzhou Subway Line 4 and 5 early in 2004, and developed the world s first batch of linear motor subway vehicles with a medium & large transportation capacity in late 2005. The model has run safely for over four years and was praised universally for outstanding operating quality. The win further consolidated CSR Sifang s leading role in developing linear motor subway vehicles.

According to the source, Guangzhou Subway Line 6 is a west-east main rail transit line expected to be open to traffic in late 2012.
