Shanghai Electric s localization of the third generation nuclear
The world's first localized AP1000 main equipment-Sanmen nuclear power generating unit # 1 safety control-box produced by Shanghai Electric has been successfully consigned by Power Station Auxiliary Equipment Factory of ShanghaiElectric Power Equipment Co., Ltd. in June 12, marking a great breakthrough of China s localization of the third generation nuclear power technology. This is another major accomplishment achieved by Shanghai Electric in China's speeding up the process of nuclear power independence, starting China s localization and self-design development of the third generation of commercial nuclear power plants.
Wang Binghua, Chairman of the State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation, Xu Jianguo, Chairman of Shanghai Electric Group, and Sun Changji, former Vice Minister of Ministry of Machine and representatives of the project attended the consignation ceremony to witness the moment of landmark importance in China's nuclear power industry development.
Nuclear Power Plants in Sanmen, Zhejiang Province and Haiyang, Shandong Province are China s independence projects since the introduction of America's third-generation nuclear power technology. There are a total of 4 sets of 1000MW PWR nuclear power plants. The projects are invested by the State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation and constructed by the State Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd. These two projects are world's first commercial operation of third-generation AP1000 nuclear power technology, which are expected to be completed in 2013.
