Shanghai Electric Works with Universities on Welded Rotors

The Shanghai Electric exchange conference on the research and development of large-sized welded rotors, hosted by China Machinery Industry Federation, was held in Beijing on October 21. Shanghai Electric signed a letter of intent with Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Harbin Welding Institute on the welding technology for large-sized low-pressure rotors. Lu Yansun, former Vice Minister of Machine-Building Industry and China Machinery Industry Federation Honorary Chairman and Sun Changji, former Vice Minister of Machine-Building Industry and Vice Chairman of Bank of China (Hong Kong), attended the conference and delivered speeches. Attendants also include Shanghai Electric Vice President Zhang Suxin and Shanghai Electric Power Generation Group Standing Vice President Zhu Bin. In addition, over 70 professionals in the electric sector were present at the conference on invitation.
We missed the opportunity of developing the welded rotor sector that occurred in late 1980s-1990s and now we should seize the opportunity to work with end users and universities on the research of the technology for welded rotors , Lu Yansun said at the conference. Shanghai Electric, with abundant resources and sophisticated technology in this field, has the determination to apply the welded rotor technology to the nuclear power sector, Lu Yansun added.
Besides, Zhang Suxin and Zhu Bin presented at the conference Shanghai Electric s experience and advantage in developing and applying the welded rotor technology, and expressed their thanks to participating leaders and experts for their long support and care for the company. Shanghai Electric General Manager Gu Wei introduced the development of the company s factories.
