On 11 January 2011, Shanghai Electric convened a meetingon how to expedite the setting up of comprehensive technology innovation system within the Group. It was resolved that the Company was formulating its road map for developing the new system with the support from the central research institute and three industrial groups as the core members and also specified the respectiveresponsibilities of the members under the new system and the key tasks in 2011 during the meeting
Recap the salient points of the meeting. The first and foremost task of Shanghai Electric in 2011 is to set up a comprehensive technology innovative system. Shanghai Electric will affirm the central research institute to take up the leading role in technology innovation advancement in the system. The institute will assist to formulate the technology strategies, to develop the cutting-edge technology and to assist the industrial groups to set up their own technological research centers in order to be responsible for significant technological research projects. Shanghai Electric will put the first priority to create the world-class factories among those important group companies and also intend to establish numbers of research centers which will be responsible for the product innovations and respective technology research. By doing so, three-tier research and development system of the Group will be finally constructed.
Under the new technology innovation system, Shanghai Electric aims to widen its global horizon and determine its development direction and goal. The Company will also formulate new strategies after evaluating the market situation and strive to break through the bottleneck and difficulties in the technology advancement, in order to achieve new goals.
