Chinese telecoms supplier ZTE today announced a further expansion in the European market with an ADSL contract with Greek incumbent telco OTE.

Under the contract, ZTE is to expand the Athens ADSL network it provided to OTE last year, bringing broadband services to a total of 10,000 subscribers. The first shipment is to arrive later this month and the network will be put into use after the installation completes at the end of June.

ZTE plans to build on its expansion in Greece with a technical support centre to serve customers in the surrounding Balkan region.

The new contract win follows ZTE s supply to OTE of a DSL network to serve the Olympic Games. Since then, ZTE has expanded the network to the rest of Athens.

Financial details of the agreement were not released.
