ZTE-Agere build new R&D center

Mainland China-ZTE Corp. has recently signed an agreement with Agere Systems to establish an R&D center for 3G platforms, 40Gbps switch fabric, 10Gbps network processors and MEMS. The R&D center will focus on optical electronics, IC and data transfer technologies. It will also develop new product solutions. Both firms will send representatives and provide technology training, support and R&D devices. ZTE has established four R&D centers in the United States, New Zealand, Santiago. The company s total sales for 2001 reached $1.68 billion.
