SHENZHEN Zhongxinxing Corporation announced last week that its air monitoring system ZE-CEM2000 has passed the rigorous test set by the National Electric Power Company. It is the first continuous emission monitoring system developed in China with equivalent performance to foreign-made systems, according to experts.

In addition to its standard monitoring features, ZE-CEM200 offers remote control and diagnosis thanks to the company s new digital and telecommunications technologies. The monitor allows controllers to read data it has generated at a different location. The digital information, generated in different formats and explaining different things, gives users a better idea in how to design controlling activities.

Engineers say the monitor is able to identify polluting gases in the air and activate an alarm if they exceed the acceptable level. China used to rely on foreign suppliers for such equipment. However over one-third of the imported equipment lies idle as it does not suit local conditions. What s more, it is difficult for local users to get support form foreign manufacturers thousand of miles away.

Zhongxinxing engineers say that they have acquired the core technology for the equipment and have emerged as a strong competitor to foreign manufacturers. Research on the project started two years ago and the company has run a one-year test on the equipment in Shenzhen s Mawan Power Plant and recorded a reliable performance.
