Video communication solution developed

ZTE Corporation, China s leading telecommunications equipment manufacturer, released the nation s first comprehensive video communication system, known as the Multimedia Service Center,in Beijing late last month. The new system, for the first time,integrates multiple transmission channels to provide video and data services.

According to the company s engineers, the system is designed for multiple purposes including online education,distance medical consultation and diagnosis,distance monitoring video on demand and virtual showrooms.The main capability of the new system is reliable video transmission, which allows simultaneous interaction between users far away from each other.

The system is compatible with different network protocols including HFC,ATM,IP and DSL.The integrative function is deemed to be specially valuable for network operators, who can now deliver cross-network video content.Moreover,the system is highly adaptable,giving network operators the opportunity to have the system tailor-made for their requirements.

Apart from the intelligent servers,the company also unveiled at the same time their terminals and metering equipment.The company already holds over 70 percent of the country s market for video conferencing systems. Reportedly, this Multimedia Service Center is an expansion and enhancement of is existing product line.

Engineers say that the new system offers easier access and is friendlier to users.
