ZTE signs CDMA2000 Network Expansion Contract with Telkom Indonesia

Telkom Indonesia, the largest information and Communication Company in Indonesia is all set to widen its horizon by entering into an agreement with ZTE, a provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions to expand its CDMA2000 network, for national coverage.

Under this agreement, ZTE will undertake the network expansion work covering four main cities in the eastern part of Sulawesi, Indonesia.

As there is an increased economic growth in Indonesia, the telecom sectors are witnessing a booming rise in sales and also in terms of number of subscribers. As per the research predictors, mobile subscribers in Indonesia are expected to increase by 42 percent through the end of 2009. Being Indonesia's largest integrated infocom carrier, Telkom has the largest CDMA network in the country. Its fixed wireless network brand, "TelkomFlexi", is used by over 5 million users.

"We are extremely excited about the opportunity to partner with Telkom again, after three years. We are very proud to be the sole provider of the network expansion project," said Cui Yi, regional general manager of ZTE in a statement to the press. "We believe that our network expertise and industry-leading All-IP CDMA2000 system as well as the integrated 3G platform will play a pivotal role in helping Telkom for its CDMA network expansion plan and eventually provide the people in Sulawesi, Indonesia better connectivity."

With over 70 countries and more than 120 operators, ZTE is currently the mainstream CDMA provider, with over and above a hundred million CDMA users.

Telkom Indonesia claims that the transaction between the two companies is expected to provide an enhanced, reliable CDMA network for the country.

The financial terms of the contract are yet to be disclosed.
