ZTE wins extension order for PTCL WDM network

Write: Sundara [2011-05-20]
ZTE has won an extension contract to build part of Pakistani operator PTCL's WDM backbone transmission network. The project is an expansion of the PCTL 400G WDM backbone network, the contract for which was also won exclusively by ZTE last year. The new project includes the deployment of a WDM ring in Quetta and a WDM chain from Rawalpindi to Mensehra. The total network coverage will span up to 6,000 km running through most of the major cities and regions in the country, carrying over 60 percent of long-haul data, voice, internet and other services in Pakistan. PCTL commissioned ZTE last year to build a 400G WDM backbone network comprising ultra long-haul and large-capacity DWDM well as new-generation MSTP telecom platforms. The entire network is based on advanced IP over DWDM to run PCTL's core IP backbone network using DWDM equipment.
