ZTE USA has announced that cellular carrier, MetroPCS has signed an agreement to purchase its CDMA PCS and AWS handsets. MetroPCS will begin selling ZTE's handsets in stores starting in January, 2008.
MetroPCS has approximately 3.7 million subscribers and offers service in the Miami, Orlando, Sarasota, Tampa, Daytona, Melbourne, Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Sacramento metropolitan areas.
"Today s news reflects ZTE's ongoing commitment to equipping the U.S. market with handsets that strike the right balance between innovation, quality and affordability," said Dr. George Sun, CEO of ZTE USA. "We see this as the first step towards forging a long-term business relationship with MetroPCS."
