ZTE, a provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has launched the world s first next generation passive optical network equipment the ZXA10 C300 multi service access platform.

Green is the focus area for many service providers in the wake of global demands for reducing carbon emissions. The ZXA10 C300 is a green, converged, future-proof, high-capacity, multi service access platform. ZTE (News - Alert) has been focusing on the development of green technologies and broadband innovations.

The converged platform reportedly excites operators. It s the world s first unified platform supporting gigabit passive optical networking, Ethernet passive optical networks and P2P and the emerging next generation Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers 10G-EPON and FSAN/ITU-T NG-PON under a single umbrella.

The ZXA10 C300 has several features. It ensures high capacity, long reach and high integration, meeting the requirements of the largest central offices.

It has been designed to support migration from existing 1G-EPON and GPON systems towards IEEE (News - Alert) 10G-EPON and FSAN/ITU-T NG-PON. The system also supports a variety of legacy and next generation optical network units and terminations. Hence it is ready for service in a wide range of fiber-to-the-x scenarios.

The Chinese company s R&D focus assisted in bringing out the next generation passive optical network equipment. ZTE commits around 10 percent of annual turnover to R&D and takes a leading role in a wide range of international bodies developing emerging telecom standards. As part of its R&D focus, ZTE has focused on xPON technologies.

The launch of next generation passive optical network equipment is not a new achievement for ZTE. ZTE has already achieved many milestones in the area of broadband access technology.

ZTE is also positioned in the international market. Its international presence has improved significantly in the recent past. ZTE has already deployed over 3.5 million xPON ports globally. The company has extensive FTTx design and deployment experience, especially in green-field and overbuild scenarios where replacement of existing copper cabling is necessary. This experience allows ZTE to grow together with operators, adjusting commercial offerings to suit operators demands, ZTE said.
