First Company in China to Get Two Consecutive Product Recognitions from WiMAX Forum.

3 October 2008, Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation ( ZTE ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced that its WiMAX 16e system equipment has been awarded Wave2 Qualification Certification by the WiMAX Forum, making it the first Chinese company to achieve dual award for its network equipment and terminal products from the same organisation. The company first received certification for its WiMAX 16e terminal solutions from the WiMAX Forum in August this year.
Wave2 Certification is issued by the WiMAX Forum Certification Organisation to help stimulate the standardisation and efficiency of WiMAX equipment and terminal products amoung industry manufacturers, and is only given to products or solutions that pass a series of strict tests administered by a group of technical experts. This testing is completed using a set-up of professional and rigorous standards, including thousands of test items ranging from contents of the protocol conformance to product capabilities, including its overall performance.
We are proud to receive the WiMAX Forum s Wave2 Certification for our WiMAX system and terminal products which only proves ZTE has the technology and industry capability to offer WiMAX solutions that meet international standards. It also demonstrates our commitment in helping push the adoption of WiMAX technology and role in driving the development and standardization of WiMAX 16m through close collaboration with various industry organisations and system vendors, said Mr. Zhao Songpu, ZTE s General Manager of WiMAX products.
ZTE is one of the few vendors in the world that pioneered research and development on WiMAX. As a result, the company was among the first in the industry to launch a full set of WiMAX solutions with indoor coverage capabilities, resolving substandard indoor coverage issues due to high-bandwidth requirements.
Today, ZTE has already deployed more than 30 WiMAX 16e networks across different regions and countries, including Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the Americas region. It has also forged partnerships with more than 120 operators worldwide to exchange insights and technical views on WiMAX 16e standards, network planning and construction, and other related industry developments. The company is the first Chinese organization in the WiMAX Forum and one of the 15 WiMAX Forum board members, with around a dozen WiMAX R&D institutions globally.
