ZTE Completes Successful Etisalat LTE Trial Tests

Write: Eldin [2011-05-20]
Wednesday, June 23, 2010: ZTE Corporation, a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has successfully completed lab and field tests on UAE-based telecommunications service provider Etisalat s LTE trial network.
The LTE tests are part of the end-to-end solutions that ZTE is providing to Etisalat when they established in-depth cooperation in October 2 009. These tests include LTE field trials at Etisalat s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, and measure functionality and performance throughout the network infrastructure, including the Uni-RAN based LTE base stations, SAE core network, unified network management software and test terminals.
Currently, ZTE is the only vendor recognized by the Etisalat Group and awarded with an LTE/SAE test certificate from the UAE service provider. This certificate recognises ZTE s technical strength in the LTE field, product performance and project management as well as customer service. With the completion of the field trials, ZTE Corporation will continue with the next round of tests.
Etisalat currently operates in 18 countries across Asia, the Middle East and Africa. As of November 2009, Etisalat was the 13th largest mobile network operator in the world with a total customer base of 100 million. Currently the 2G network coverage in UAE is 100% and the 3G network covers 99.5% of the region s residential areas.
ZTE has been increasing its investment in LTE technology and is also one of the global pioneers in developing LTE terminals. As of April 2010, ZTE had deployed five commercial networks and over 40 trials with tier-one operators in Europe, North America, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, greatly accelerating LTE commercialisation in these regions.
