Successfully Developed High Performance Heat Resistant Stainless Steel 253MA

Recently, TISCO succeeded in the contract regarding heat resistant stainless steel medium plate (253MA (S30815)) with high quality and on time with Dongfang Electric Group, one of the three biggest kinetics groups in China. The success symbolizes a breakthrough of development of the new stainless steel product.

The development of high performance heat resistant stainless steel 253MA was organized by the Technology Center of TISCO. They added appropriate amount of lanthanide and nitrogen of 1400-2000ppm to improve performance of steel under high temperature. Compared with 0Cr25Ni20 of common 310-serial stainless steel, 253MA heat resistant stainless steel enjoys an improved performance and broad market prospect based on big decreasing of content of precious metal nickel.

Researchers applied self-developed AOD nitrogen alloying patent technology and stainless steel inclusion control technology during the development, and overcame the technical difficulties including the rare earths addition with fixed amount and thermoplastic control of this steel grade during continuous casting, therefore every performance reaches advanced level among similar products abroad. Especially, because the key technology of rare earths addition with fixed amount during continuous casting was grasped only in a few countries, domestic boiler generation industry has been depending on importation of such steel grade. The successful development of the 253MA medium plate, making TISCO s serial of heat resistant stainless steel complete, fills the gap in our country and is of significance to enhance competitiveness of the company, promote material localization rate, shorten the period of manufacturing, and reduce the cost.
