Recently, super Austenitic stainless 904L hot rolling medium plate is successfully developed in TISCO, of which all performance indicators have reached the imported product level through system testing, filling up domestic blank.
904L is a kind of super Austenitic stainless steel, with high contents of Cr, Ni, Mu and extra low content of carbon, having very good anti-corrosion performance, especially under the condition of phosphoric acid and sulfuric acid, and it has better anti- overall corrosion performance and excellent anti-pitting corrosion, anti-crevice corrosion performance. Compared with routine 304 or 316 L stainless steel, it has much more outstanding anti-stress corrosion cracking and anti-intergranular corrosion performance. Therefore, this kind of stainless steel products have been extensively applied in the following industries, such as chemical engineering, sewage disposal and papermaking etc., but with high technique requirements and difficult production of 904L stainless steel, no domestic factory can go into batch production before, internal need is all depending on import.
For the urgently needed shortage steel grade in China equipment manufacture industry such as chemical engineering etc., TISCO has established a specialized team for the development of national shortage steel grades on the second half of 2007. For tackling key problems Technology Center has set up a developing team for super Austenitic stainless steel, which put forward a practical research plan on the basis of reviewing related references of home and abroad. First, they carry on a small furnace smelting experiment in pilot laboratory, simulate the smelting process of the high alloy super Austenitic stainless steel and then perform many tests by the advanced hot processing simulation testing machine, finally they master series of relevant parameters of this steel grade composition design and hot processing performance, which laying a good foundation for industrialization production. They also conduct an industry test on site, which has solved the key technique difficulties about the smelting, continuous casting and hot processing technique for the extra-low-carbon high-alloy stainless steel, successfully produce the first hot rolling 904L middle plate in domestic. TISCO become the first manufacturer that can go into batch production for the super austenitic stainless steel 904L plate in China.
TISCO has already become the only manufacturer in domestic that can produce super Austenitic, super duplex, super ferritic and super martensitic stainless steel in the meantime due to the successful development of 904L, which improves TISCO s research level of high-grade, precision and advanced stainless steel species and meets the urgent national need.
