In recent years, TISCO s stainless steel, taking place of imported material, are used in 53 domestic stainless steel chemical ships. Among them three are made of 2205 duplex stainless steel which fulfilled historical breakthrough in shipbuilding industry.
Shipbuilding industry has trended to develop with heavy tonnages, so stainless steel for ships market keeps steadily increasing. Adapting to this situation, TISCO extends market investigation and development. In order to enlarge its market share of stainless steel for ships, the corporation made it as key strategic development product. Visits to classification societies, ship design institutions and dockyard were organized later. Meantime, TISCO s sale department formulated Customer service procedure of stainless steel for chemical ships to strength the whole customer service procedure involving pre-sale, during sale and after-sale service. And technical communication between operators, technicians, consigners and customers were arranged to supply customers with information about lifting, storage, stainless steel welding, and etc. In 2007, TISCO signed the contract of 8 chemical ships made of duplex stainless steel. Meantime the cooperation intention of 14 chemical ships made of duplex stainless steel was signed with one domestic shipyard. At present, three of them have been delivered.
In order to satisfy domestic and abroad shipbuilding industry s need for stainless steel, TISCO actively carried out certifying works. Austenitic stainless steel plate and duplex stainless steel plate were certified by classification societies of French, USA and Germany, which made good preparation for entering aboard stainless steel market for chemical ships.
