On August 8, 2007, Beijing Emigrants and Overseas Chinese Co-construct Beijing Olympic Venues Committee (hereinafter Beijing Co-construct Committee ) held the seventh donation transfer ceremony to the proprietor of National Swimming Center. Mr. XU Chen, General Manager of BOC Olympic Affairs Department and Ms. LI Xiaojing, General Manager of BOC New York Branch were present on behalf of BOC.
After becoming overseas donation partner of NSC last year, BOC has offered quality financial service for overseas donators with its global branches and network. Meanwhile it deducted or exempted commission charge for overseas donation remittance, which has exerted wide impact on Chinese communities and enhanced BOC s brand image.
New York branch set a good example. Based on the head office s requirements, it formulated specific operation procedures for the remittance, and publicized about BOC s free remittance service via local media, Chinese embassy and consulates. To enlarge the influence of such service, it held Press Conference for American Chinese co-constructing Beijing Olympic Venues Water Cube .
New York branch s efforts helped local Chinese to fulfill their wishes to support and participate in Beijing 2008 Olympics through the form of donation.
Since its launch, the co-constructing work for National Swimming Center has received wide attention from domestic and overseas Chinese. During his inspection of Olympic venue construction sites on October 1, 2006, General Secretary HU Jintao delivered a speech which greatly inspired and promoted the development of donation. As of August 7, 2007, the committee office had received a total of 830 million ( 110 million) donations from over 330,000 Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese in 97 countries and regions.
